Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions we receive. If you don’t find what you’re looking for here, feel free to contact us.

Q.  How many guests can Forest Haven accommodate?

A.  We can accommodate one individual or couple at a time. Although we love children, the apartment has only one bedroom and we strongly recommend finding someone trustworthy to take care of your children so that your time at Forest Haven is most beneficial to spiritual and physical renewal. An exception could be made for parents with an infant.

Q.  What is the fee to stay at Forest Haven?

A.  Accommodations at Forest Haven are provided free of charge. Donations of whatever amount are welcome, however. If you can’t give at this time, God always covers our costs by other means.

Q.  Who is Forest Haven for?

A.  The ministry of Forest Haven is specifically for those in the Christian ministry. This includes Pastors and their spouses, church staff in leadership positions, and missionaries and their spouses

Q.  How do I make a reservation?

A.  You can make a reservation by completing the form here.

Q.  Where are you located?

A. We are in the hills of Bradford, NH. We are two hours northwest of Boston via I-93 & I-89, and 40 minutes northwest of Concord. We are located near Lake Sunapee. Check out our Directions page for more specific information.

Q. Is counseling available?

A.  We are not trained counselors, but we would love to provide a listening ear and personal prayer.

Q.  Do you have any set schedule or programs?

A.  No. Our guests can set their own pace or schedule. Forest Haven is a place that seeks to meet all your physical needs so you can concentrate on your spiritual and emotional needs. We do ask that you plan on having dinner with us the first night of your visit so we can find out a bit about you and your prayer needs. If you wish, you are welcome to join us for dinner Monday through Thursday nights.

Q.  What should I bring?

A.  Forest Haven provides all bedding and bath linens, a fully equipped kitchen and the makings for simple breakfasts. You will need to bring food for lunches and any dinners you don’t eat with us.   If you prefer not to cook, there are a variety of restaurants nearby from upscale to simple diner food. Bring any beverages, snacks, etc. you consider essential! For a listing of local grocery stores and restaurants, check out our Meals page.

Q.  What opportunities are there for recreation?

A.  There are a number of wonderful walking and hiking opportunities nearby, ranging from a stroll on our Forest Haven trail, to a more strenuous walk up the road we live on, to a hike up a nearby mountain. Opportunities abound! Bring comfortable walking shoes. There are 3 state parks within 15 to 40 minutes with lakes, swimming, hiking, and picnic opportunities. If you like driving on back country roads, the possibilities are virtually endless.

Q.  What can I expect at Forest Haven?

A.  Expect a relaxing, quiet environment. There is no TV in the apartment and cell phone service is sketchy at best. We do have wireless internet, but, depending on your purpose for being here, you are encouraged to take a break from all media. Expect the opportunity to break away from the demands and noise of the daily grind. Expect hosts who are available to listen, love and pray for you. Expect freedom to do as much or as little as you desire; there are no programs or schedules. It is our fondest wish that Forest Haven will provide you with a place to simply get quiet and enter into God’s rest. Our ministry is one of healing hospitality, and Forest Haven exists to provide a place for you to renew your vision or to just renew your love for our Lord.

A.  In order to keep the apartment allergy free, no pets are allowed.

Q.  What about smoking?

A.   Sorry, smoking is not allowed on the premises.
